Introduction
Welcome to the very first Sunday of July! I am so happy to see each one of your beautiful faces today. As we step into this new month, God has a beautiful promise for us. Our theme for this entire month is “A Month of Prayer and Receiving Miracles.” I want you to take a deep breath and let those words sink into your heart. God is not done working in your life. This month is not going to be just another normal month. It is going to be a season where your prayers meet God’s power, and where your dry seasons turn into seasons of great miracles.
Sometimes, life feels heavy. You look at your bank account, your health, or your family, and you feel like nothing is changing. You might be asking, “Pastor, does God really hear my quiet prayers?” The answer is a big, beautiful YES. God hears the whispers of your heart.
Today, we are looking at the story of the prophet Elijah in 1 Kings 17. This whole chapter is a beautiful picture of how God takes care of His people when things are hard. There was a terrible drought in the land. There was no water, no rain, and very little food. People were hopeless. But right in the middle of that dry, difficult time, God showed up with miracles. He used a simple man who prayed, and He did impossible things.
This morning, I want to encourage you: it does not matter how dry your situation looks right now. It does not matter how long you have been waiting for a breakthrough. The same God who looked after Elijah is sitting on the throne today in 2026. He has not changed. This month, as we humble ourselves and pray, the windows of heaven are opening over your life. Get ready to receive your miracle. Let us dive into God’s word together with open hearts.
Part 1: God Rules the Hidden Supply (1 Kings 17:1-6)
In the first six verses of 1 Kings 17, we meet Elijah. He walks up to the wicked King Ahab and boldly declares in 1 Kings 17:1, “As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word.” After saying this, God tells Elijah to go and hide by a small brook called Cherith. God tells him something amazing in 1 Kings 17:4, “You will drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.” Elijah obeys, and morning and evening, these wild birds bring him bread and meat, and he drinks from the stream.
Let us think about this for a moment. Ravens are selfish birds. They usually take food away, they do not bring it! But when God decides to bless you, He can make even your enemies or the most unlikely things serve you. Elijah was hidden away from the world, but he was not hidden from God’s eyes.
You might feel hidden today. You might feel like nobody notices your struggles or the tears you cry when you are alone. But God sees you in your hidden place. He knows exactly where you are sitting, and He has already commanded your provision to find you. You do not need to worry about how you will survive this month. God has a secret supply line just for you.
The key here is obedience. Elijah had to go exactly where God told him to go. When you stay in the place of prayer and obedience, God takes full responsibility for your life. Even when the rest of the world is going through a financial drought or emotional pain, God can carve out a peaceful place just for you. Trust Him today. He is sending His provisions to your doorstep, and it will arrive right on time, morning and evening.
Furthermore, we must understand that God’s timing is flawless. When you think you are abandoned, God is actually setting up a miracle behind the scenes. The Bible says in 1 Kings 17:5, “So he did what the Lord had told him. He went to the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan, and stayed there.” Because he moved when God said move, the supernatural doors opened. Do not try to figure out how God will do it. Your only job is to hear His voice and take the step. When you step out in faith, the ravens of blessing will start flying in your direction. The Lord who owns the cattle on a thousand hills is opening up pathways of breakthrough that no human being can block. Rest in His love today, because your hidden supply is fully guaranteed by His heavenly riches.
Part 2: The Empty Jar That Never Ran Dry (1 Kings 17:7-16)
Eventually, because there was no rain, the little brook dried up. Imagine how Elijah must have felt. His water source disappeared! But God spoke to him again and told him to go to a town called Zarephath, where a poor widow would feed him. When Elijah arrived, he found a tired woman gathering sticks. He asked her for a cup of water and a piece of bread. The woman wept and said in 1 Kings 17:12, “As surely as the Lord your God lives, I don’t have any bread—only a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it—and die.”
Elijah looked at her and said the most beautiful words in the Bible in 1 Kings 17:13, “Do not be afraid. Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small loaf of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son.” He promised her in 1 Kings 17:14, “For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the land.’” The woman chose to believe. She gave her last bit of food to the man of God. And a beautiful miracle happened: her family ate for many days, and the jar of flour and the jug of oil never ran out!
Look at the heart of this story. God did not send Elijah to a rich palace; He sent him to a broke widow who was getting ready to die. God loves to use our small, empty places to show His massive power. What do you have in your hand today that feels too small? Is it a tiny bit of faith? A small amount of money? A tired body?
Bring that little piece to God in prayer this month. Do not be afraid. When you give God your “little,” He pours His “much” into it. The miracle did not happen while the woman kept the flour to herself; it happened when she gave it away in faith. Your miracle is waiting on your willingness to trust God with your last handful. He is the God who multiplies. He will stretch your finances, stretch your strength, and fill your empty spaces until you have more than enough.
Think about the incredible relief that filled that home every single day. The Bible records in 1 Kings 17:16, “For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the Lord spoken by Elijah.”Every morning she woke up, looked into the jar, and found just enough for that day. God did not give her a warehouse full of flour all at once; He gave her daily bread. That is how our God works. He wants us to depend on Him day by day. This month, let go of the anxiety about tomorrow. The God who filled the jar yesterday will surely fill the jar tomorrow. You will not lack any good thing because your source is connected directly to the unlimited storehouses of heaven.
Part 3: From Death to New Life (1 Kings 17:17-24)
After these wonderful food miracles, a terrible tragedy hit the home. The widow’s young son became very sick, stopped breathing, and died. The heartbroken mother cried out to Elijah, wondering if God was punishing her. Elijah did not argue with her. Instead, he took the dead boy up to his room, laid him on the bed, and stretched himself over the boy three times. He cried out to God in deep prayer in 1 Kings 17:21, “O Lord my God, let this child’s life return to him!” And the Bible says in 1 Kings 17:22, “The Lord heard Elijah’s cry, and the boy’s life returned to him, and he lived.” Elijah brought him down and gave him to his mother, who said in 1 Kings 17:24, “Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the Lord from your mouth is the truth.”
This is the greatest miracle in the chapter. It tells us that God is not just interested in fixing our daily physical needs like food and water. He is the Lord over life and death! He can bring dead things back to life.
What has died in your life? Maybe a beautiful dream you had years ago has died. Maybe your marriage feels completely dead, cold, and quiet. Maybe your joy or your mental peace has passed away under the weight of depression. I have good news for you today. The God of the resurrection is in this room.
Elijah prayed with passion and desperation. This month, we are going to pray bold prayers. We are not going to look at how dead a situation looks. We are going to look at how big our God is. If God can put breath back into a cold, dead boy, He can easily revive your broken heart, restore your failing business, and bring life back into your family relationships. Nothing is too far gone for Him. Death does not have the final say when the Living God enters the room.
We must see that this miracle turned the woman’s mourning into dancing. When Elijah handed her the living boy, all her doubts vanished completely. In the same way, God wants to bring a resurrection into your life that will permanently silence the doubts of the enemy. The scripture shows us that God responds to intense, heartfelt prayer. He does not ignore a broken spirit. If you feel like your hope has died and you are standing over the grave of your expectations, do not give up. Cry out to God like Elijah did. The Holy Spirit is moving across this congregation right now, breathing upon dead dreams, dead health, and dead keys to success. Get ready, because the shout of victory and new life is coming back into your household this very month!
Challenging Session
Now, church, let us speak honestly. Miracles are beautiful, but they require something from us. Miracles require us to step out of our comfort zones. Elijah had to trust God when he was told to go sit by a lonely brook and wait for wild birds to feed him. The widow had to bake her very last handful of flour for a stranger before she saw the multiplication.
Today, God is challenging your faith. You cannot keep praying the same safe, comfortable prayers and expect supernatural miracles. God is asking you: Are you willing to trust Me when the brook dries up? Are you willing to obey Me when you only have a little bit left?
Many of us want the jar of oil to stay full, but we refuse to give God the first piece. We want our dead situations to rise, but we do not want to spend time crying out to God on our knees like Elijah did. Prayer is hard work. It requires you to turn off the television, put down your phone, and wake up early or stay up late to seek the face of God.
This month of July is a challenge to your spiritual life. I dare you to believe God for the impossible. I challenge you to look past your empty bank accounts, your medical reports, and your past failures. Stop looking at the drought, and start looking at the sky! God is looking for men and women who will say, “Lord, even if it makes no sense to my human mind, I will obey Your word. I will press into prayer this month.” Do not settle for a normal life when a supernatural God is waiting to bless you. Break out of your comfort zone today!
Altar Call Session
As we move toward the close of our service, the most important moment has arrived. We cannot talk about miracles without talking about the greatest miracle of all: the salvation of your soul. You see, the widow’s jar was filled, and the dead boy was raised, but all of those things eventually faded. The greatest, eternal miracle is when a human heart is washed clean by the love and blood of Jesus Christ.
Maybe you are here today, and you realize your heart is like that dry brook. You feel empty, lost, and disconnected from God. You have been trying to fill your life with work, money, or relationships, but the jar of your soul is completely dry. Jesus is standing here with open arms, offering you living water that will never run out.
Or maybe you once walked closely with God, but during a difficult season of drought, you drifted away. You stopped praying. You let fear take over. Today, God is saying, “Come home, my child. I am not angry with you. I want to supply your needs and give you a fresh start.”
If you want to surrender your life to Jesus today, or if you want to rededicate your life to Him on this first Sunday of July, I want you to step out from where you are standing. Walk down to this altar right now. Do not wait for anyone else. This is your moment. Step out in faith, come to the front, and let the love of Jesus wash over you. We are ready to pray with you. Come, receive the miracle of a brand-new beginning today.
Deliverance Session
For those standing here, and for everyone in the congregation, I want you to lift your hands toward heaven right now. We are entering into a time of total deliverance. In the name of Jesus, we break every chain of limitation that has kept you bound.
Every spirit of lack, poverty, and dryness that has been following your family for generations—we command it to leave you right now in the mighty name of Jesus! Just like the widow’s jar, you will no longer live in insufficiency. I decree deliverance over your mind. Every spirit of depression, heavy grief, and fear of death that has stolen your sleep—pack your bags and go!
We speak life into your bodies. If there is any sickness or disease trying to dry up your physical strength, we command it to be uprooted by the power of the Holy Spirit. Be healed from the top of your head to the soles of your feet. We break the power of spiritual stagnation. You will no longer take one step forward and three steps backward. This July, you are delivered from the hand of the enemy. The chains are falling off your hands, your feet, and your mind. Walk into total freedom, joy, and peace today, because whom the Son sets free is truly free indeed!
Conclusion
What a beautiful day this has been in the presence of the Lord. As we close this service and get ready to walk out into the new week, I want you to carry this message deep inside your heart. Remember that your God is the master of the hidden supply. He sees you, He knows your name, and He has already made a way for you where there seems to be no way.
Do not look at the dry weather around you. Do not let the bad news on the television or the stressful talk in the world steal your peace. You belong to the Kingdom of Heaven, and in God’s Kingdom, there is never a shortage. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus. Keep your knees bent in prayer. Let your home be a place where prayer rises every single morning and evening.
As you go home, check your heart and ensure fear has no space there. Speak words of faith over your children, your job, and your health. When the enemy whispers that you are going to fail, answer him with the word of God and say yourself, “My jar of flour will not run out, and my jug of oil will not run dry, because the Lord is my provider!”
This is just the beginning of July. We have four more weeks of miracles ahead of us. Expect great things this week. Expect unexpected phone calls, unexpected blessings, and sudden turnarounds. God is moving swiftly on your behalf. Go forth with your head held high, knowing that the Almighty God is walking right beside you.
Prayer
Let us bow our heads and pray together.
Heavenly Father, we thank You so much for Your powerful and living word today. Thank You for reminding us that You are a God of miracles. Lord, we lift up this entire month of July 2026 to You. We declare that this is our month of answered prayers and supernatural breakthroughs.
Father, I pray for every empty jar represented here today. Multiply their small resources. Open up hidden streams of supply for everyone going through a financial drought. Lord, touch the bodies that are sick and bring healing. Touch the hearts that are grieving and bring comfort. We pray for every situation that looks dead—let Your Holy Spirit breathe new life into it right now.
Help us to stay faithful, to obey Your voice, and to spend time in deep prayer this month. Protect our families as we go out and as we come in. Let Your favor shield us every single day. We love You, we praise You, and we receive our miracles today by faith. In the precious and mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen!
Next Week’s Focus
Before you leave today, I want to give you a small preview of next week. Next Sunday, we are going to continue our beautiful theme of prayer and miracles. We will be moving into 1 Kings 18.
Today, we saw God answering prayer in private, in a small house with a widow. Next week, we are going to see God answer prayer in a massive, public way on top of Mount Carmel! We are going to look at how Elijah prayed down fire from heaven to consume the sacrifice and defeat the false prophets.
If you think a multiplying jar of oil is amazing, wait until you see God sending fire and opening the heavy clouds to bring abundance of rain. Do not miss next Sunday. Invite your friends, bring your family, and come hungry for more of God’s power. Have a blessed, miracle-filled week!
God bless abundantly.
