Sermon Topic: Arise and Go!
Bible verse – Acts 9:10-19
There was a disciple in Damascus by the name of Ananias. The Master spoke to him in a vision: “Ananias.”
He said, “Yes, Master?”
The Master said, “Get up and go over to Straight Street. Find the house of Judas and ask there for a man from Tarsus by the name of Saul. He’s there right now, praying. He has just had a vision in which a man named Ananias enters and lays hands on him so he can see again.”
Ananias protested, “Master, you can’t be serious. Everybody’s talking about this man and the terrible things he’s been doing, massacring your people in Jerusalem! And now he’s here with a blank check from the chief priests to arrest anything that moves in your name.”
But the Master said, “Don’t argue. Go! I have picked him as my personal representative to non-Jews and kings and Jews. And now I’m about to show him what he has to go through for my sake.”
Ananias went and entered the house. He placed his hands on him and said, “Brother Saul, the Master sent me—the same Jesus you saw on your way here. He sent me so you could see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”
No sooner were the words out of his mouth than something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes and he could see perfectly. He got up and was baptized. Then he sat down and ate a hearty meal, regimens of strength returning to his body.

Praise the Lord! Welcome back, my dear brothers and sisters, to Day Two of our 3-Days Early Morning Fasting Prayer. Praise God for giving us the health and strength to wake up early once again to seek His beautiful face.
Yesterday, we learned that God is holding our right hand when we feel like we are slipping. Today, God wants to take us a step further. He doesn’t just want us to stand still while He holds our hand—He wants us to move in obedience.
Our scripture for today is from Acts 9:10-19. This is the incredible story of a simple disciple named Ananias and a very dangerous man named Saul (who later became the Apostle Paul). This story shows us what happens when ordinary people listen to God’s voice early in the morning and choose to obey, even when it feels terrifying.

Special Encouragement for Day Two
I want to speak directly to your body and your spirit this morning. You have made it to Day Two! Give thanks to God for that. The second day of a fast is often the hardest day. Your body is feeling the lack of food even more today. You might feel a little bit weak, or you might have a slight headache. The excitement of Day One has passed, and Day Three still feels a little far away.
But I want to tell you: do not give up now! This is the hour of your breakthrough.
The enemy loves to attack on the second day because he knows that if you push through today, victory is guaranteed tomorrow. In the Bible, many great things happened on the second day or the second step. It is the day of perseverance.
When you feel weak in your flesh, remember that God’s strength is made perfect in your weakness. Look at the people sitting next to you—you are not alone in this fight. We are climbing this spiritual mountain together. Take a deep breath, lift your heart to heaven, and tell yourself: “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” God is watching your sacrifice today, and He is pouring out fresh oil, fresh grace, and fresh power upon your life right now!

God Knows Your Name and Your Address
Let us open our Bibles to Acts 9:10-11:
“In Damascus there was a disciple named Ananias. The Lord called to him in a vision, ‘Ananias!’ ‘Yes, Lord,’ he answered. The Lord told him, ‘Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying.'”
Look at how detailed our God is! God did not just look down from heaven and say, “Hey, someone go help Saul.” No, God knew the exact name of the disciple He wanted to use: Ananias. And God knew the exact location where Saul was staying: the house of Judas on Straight Street. God even knew exactly what Saul was doing at that very second: he was praying.
This should give you so much comfort this morning. God knows exactly who you are, where you live, and what you are going through. He knows your street name. He knows the number of your house. He knows the room where you kneel down to cry out to Him. You are never hidden from His eyes.
When you pray in the secret place early in the morning, God is watching you just like He was watching Saul. God told Ananias, “for he is praying.” God flags it in heaven when His children pray. Your prayers are not disappearing into thin air. They are rising straight to the throne room of God, and God is already arranging the answers for you behind the scenes.

Overcoming Your Fears with God’s Purpose
But look at how Ananias responds in verses 13-14. He was terrified, and honestly, he had a very good reason to be:
“‘Lord,’ Ananias answered, ‘I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your holy people in Jerusalem. And he has come here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name.’”
Saul was famous for being a killer of Christians. He hated the church. For Ananias, going to meet Saul felt like walking straight into a lion’s den or walking into a trap. Ananias started reminding God about how dangerous the situation was.
Sometimes, when God tells us to do something, or when we face a big problem, our fears start talking loudly. We look at our bank accounts, we look at our medical reports, or we look at our broken relationships, and we say, “But Lord, look at how bad this situation is! Look at how much this hurts! I cannot handle this.”
But notice how God answers Ananias in verse 15:
“But the Lord said to the disciple, ‘Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel.’”
God did not argue with Ananias. He just gave him a command: “Go!” Because God saw something in Saul that Ananias could not see. Ananias saw a murderer, but God saw a missionary. Ananias saw a fierce enemy, but God saw a chosen instrument.
My friends, your current trouble might look like a giant that wants to destroy you, but God sees it as an opportunity to show His massive power. Stop looking at your problems through human eyes. Start looking at them through God’s promises. If God tells you to face your storm today, it is because He has already given you the victory over it!

The Power of a Brotherly Welcome
Ananias chose to trust God instead of his fears. He stood up, walked down Straight Street, entered the house, and did something completely mind-blowing. Let us read verse 17:
“Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, ‘Brother Saul, the Lord—Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here—has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.’”
Don’t miss those two small words: “Brother Saul.”
Just a few minutes ago, Ananias was terrified of this man. Saul was his enemy. But because of God’s grace, Ananias walks in, lays his hands on him, and calls him “Brother.” He offered Saul love, forgiveness, and family instead of anger or judgment.
During this fasting prayer, God wants to change our hearts so we can become standard-bearers of love. Is there someone in your life who has hurt you? Is there someone you consider an enemy? God might be challenging you today to forgive them, to pray for them, and to show them kindness. When we forgive those who hurt us, we break the chains of bitterness in our own lives. Ananias’ simple act of love broke the ice and opened the door for a massive miracle.

Scales Fall and Sight is Restored
Look at the immediate result of Ananias’ obedience in verses 18-19:
“Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized, and after taking some food, he regained his strength.”
The moment Ananias obeyed and prayed, a physical and spiritual miracle took place. The blindness left Saul. The crusty scales fell from his eyes, and he could see clearly for the first time in three days. He was instantly baptized, filled with the Holy Spirit, and his physical strength was completely restored.
What would have happened if Ananias had stayed at home because he was too scared? Saul might have stayed blind, and the history of the early church would be totally different. But because one ordinary man said “Yes” to God early in the morning, a world-changing apostle was set free.
Your obedience during these three days of fasting is not just about you. There are blessings, miracles, and breakthroughs attached to your prayers that will impact your children, your family, and your neighbors. When you stay on your knees today, spiritual scales are going to fall off the eyes of your loved ones who are lost in darkness. Prodigal sons and daughters are going to see the light of Jesus and come running back home!
Conclusion and Call to Prayer
As we close this message on Day Two, the Lord is asking you the same question He asked Ananias: Will you trust Me and move forward?
Will you lay down your fears, your tiredness, and your worries at the altar today? God knows your name, He knows your struggle, and He is calling you to rise up in faith. Do not let the exhaustion of Day Two slow you down. The scales are about to fall! Your vision is about to be restored! Your strength is being renewed right now!
Let us stand up all together across this room. Let us lift our voices and our hands to heaven. Let us pray for an obedient heart like Ananias, and let us pray for a mighty deliverance like Saul. Cry out to God for your family, your health, and your future. The Lord of Damascus is in this place this morning, and He is doing a brand new thing. Let us pray!
Heavenly Father, we thank You for bringing us safely to Day Two of this fasting prayer. Lord, our bodies might feel tired, but our spirits are ready to obey You. Just like You called Ananias, we say this morning: “Yes, Lord, here I am.”
Forgive us for the times we let fear, worry, or our past struggles make us look at our problems instead of Your power. We thank You that You know our names, our homes, and our hidden heartaches. Nothing is a secret to You.
We pray that You would give us a bold and obedient heart today. Help us to rise up and move forward into the blessings You have prepared for us. We command every spiritual scale of blindness, doubt, and sadness to fall off our eyes right now in the name of Jesus!
Pour out Your Holy Spirit upon us this morning. Fill us with fresh physical strength and heavenly power to complete this fast. We believe that breakthroughs are happening in our homes and families today. We pull down every discouragement and lift up the name of Jesus. Thank You for holding our hand and leading us to victory.
In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen! Have a blessed day ahead in Jesus’s name. God bless abundantly.
