Sermon Introduction

Welcome, church family! I am so happy to see every single one of you here today. All through this month, we have been focusing on our theme: Being Real and Walking in God’s Power. We learned that if we want to experience God’s true supernatural power, we have to drop our masks and be completely honest with Him. Today, we are looking at the most beautiful secret to living this kind of life. That secret is God’s presence. Power does not come from a special formula or our own hard work. True spiritual power always comes from being close to the presence of God. When God is with us, everything changes. Chains break, fear runs away, and heavy hearts find real rest.

Today, we are going to look at how much we need the presence of God every single day. We will see that we cannot do life alone. Moses understood this completely. He told God that he did not want to move even one step forward if God’s presence was not going with him. Being real means admitting that we are weak without Him. It means saying, “Lord, I do not want to live a single day without your presence guiding my heart.” When we invite God into our raw, messy moments, His peaceful presence fills the room and lifts us up. Let us open our hearts right now and get ready to feel His beautiful presence moving among us today.

  1. Playing the Part vs. Knowing the Heart

The world we live in is very busy and full of heavy stress. Many times, we feel tired deep inside our souls because we are trying to fix all our problems using our own human strength. We look for rest in vacations, entertainment, or by scrolling through our phones, but our hearts remain empty. True rest cannot be bought with money. Real peace only comes when we step into the presence of God and let Him carry our heavy burdens. When God told Moses, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest,” He was making a beautiful promise that is still completely alive for us today. God does not want you to live a life full of constant worry and burning anxiety.

Look at the biblical example of Elijah in First Kings chapter nineteen. Elijah was completely exhausted, terrified of an evil queen, and running for his life in the hot desert. He was so tired that he just wanted to give up and die. But God did not shout at him or judge him for being weak. Instead, God met him in a quiet, gentle whisper. That peaceful presence of God gave Elijah a totally fresh strength, healed his broken mind, and gave him the power to stand up and keep moving forward. Being real means admitting when you are tired of pretending to be strong. When you come to Jesus honestly and say, “Lord, I cannot do this anymore,” His presence wraps around you like a warm blanket. His presence calms the storm inside your mind and fills you with a deep, supernatural rest that nobody else can ever take away from you.

We must understand that this rest is not just about sleeping or stopping our physical work. It is a deep quietness in your soul that stands strong even when the whole world around you is completely chaotic. When you practice sitting quietly in God’s presence every morning, you are anchoring your heart to the rock of ages. You stop fighting the battles that belong to the Lord, and you allow His Spirit to defend you. The enemy wants you to stay busy, distracted, and tired because a tired Christian is easily tricked. But when you are filled with the rest that comes from God’s presence, you walk with a beautiful confidence. You know that the Creator of the universe is walking right beside you, managing your situations. Let us make a firm decision today to stop running on our own empty tanks. Let us choose to sit at the feet of Jesus, pour out our honest complaints, and exchange our heavy weakness for His wonderful, refreshing rest.

  1. When Heaven Crushes Your Human Plans

We all have to go through difficult seasons and painful trials in this life. Sometimes it feels like the heat of the problems is just too much to handle, and we wonder how we will ever survive. But the wonderful truth about God is that He does not always take the fire away; instead, He walks right through the middle of the fire with you. Walking in God’s power means knowing that no matter how hot the trouble gets, you are never alone. God’s presence acts as a supernatural shield that protects your heart from being burned by disappointment or deep despair.

Think about the amazing story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in Daniel chapter three. They refused to bow down to a gold idol, so the angry king threw them into a blazing hot furnace. The fire was so intense that it killed the strong soldiers who threw them in. But when the king looked inside the furnace, he was completely shocked. He did not see three dead men; he saw four men walking around completely free and unhurt. He said the fourth person looked like the Son of God! Jesus Himself came down into the furnace to be with them. When they finally stepped out, they did not even smell like smoke. This teaches us that when you stay real and faithful to God, His presence joins you in your darkest, most painful trials. The trouble you are facing right now cannot destroy you because Jesus is standing right there in the fire with you, holding your hand.

The fire of life is designed by the enemy to destroy your faith, but God uses it to display His magnificent power through your life. Notice that the only things that burned away in the furnace were the heavy ropes that had been tying the three Hebrew boys up. This means that God will use your difficult situations to set you completely free from the things that have been binding you for years. You will come out of the trial stronger, bolder, and more full of joy than ever before. People will look at your life and wonder how you survived such a terrible storm without losing your mind or your smile. Your answer will be simple: “The presence of Jesus was with me.” Do not fear the negative reports, the sickness, or the financial troubles. The fourth man is still walking in the fire today, and He is making sure that not a single hair on your head will be burned. Trust His presence right now.

  1. Out of the Dark and Into a Brand-New Start

Many times, we carry secret chains inside our hearts that keep us from moving into our bright futures. These can be invisible chains of old habits, deep-seated anger, bitter jealousy, or fears that we hide from our friends and family. We try our best to break these habits using our own willpower, but we fail over and over again. The good news is that human willpower cannot defeat spiritual bondage, but the presence of the Holy Spirit breaks every heavy chain instantly. When God enters the room, darkness has to pack its bags and leave immediately because light always wins over darkness.

Look at the powerful example of Paul and Silas in Acts chapter sixteen. They were stripped, beaten with rods, and thrown into the deepest, darkest part of a dirty prison, with their feet locked in heavy wooden stocks. They were in absolute physical agony, but instead of complaining or crying, they decided to be real and praise God. At midnight, they started praying and singing loud hymns to the Lord. Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake that shook the very foundations of the prison. Instantly, all the heavy iron doors flew open, and everyone’s chains fell completely off their wrists. This was not just a physical earthquake; it was the heavy weight of God’s presence coming down because He loves the praises of His people. When you choose to praise God in your mess, His presence breaks every chain of addiction, depression, and fear in your life.

There is an absolute liberty that takes over the room whenever the Spirit of the Lord is allowed to move freely. You do not have to struggle and cry for years trying to fix your deep character flaws or hidden hurts. One single moment in the raw presence of God can do more than twenty years of human effort and counseling. The walls of pride must fall down when we encounter the holiness of our Heavenly Father. When you are honest with God about your secret bondages and you begin to worship Him through your pain, the atmosphere changes completely. The heavy chains that have passed down through your family lines for generations will snap like thin threads. God wants you to walk in complete, unhindered freedom so that you can fulfill your divine destiny. Lift your spiritual gaze away from the size of your problems and focus entirely on the grand majesty of God’s presence. Freedom is not a destination; freedom is a person, and His name is Jesus Christ.

  1. Saved to Serve and Powered to Bless

Fear is one of the biggest weapons that the enemy uses to stop us from walking in our true spiritual power. Fear tells us that we are not smart enough, that we will fail, or that something terrible is about to happen to our children. But the Bible tells us that perfect love drives away all fear, and God is that perfect love. When you are deeply aware of God’s close presence, fear completely loses its grip on your mind. You realize that if the Almighty God is for you, it does not matter who or what stands against you.

A wonderful example of this is young David when he fought the giant Goliath in First Samuel chapter seventeen. All the strong, experienced soldiers in the Israelite army were shaking with total fear, hiding in their tents because Goliath was so huge and terrifying. But David was not afraid at all. He was just a young shepherd boy, but he spent his days out in the lonely fields worshipping in the beautiful presence of God. Because he knew God was with him, he walked right up to the giant with total boldness. He told Goliath, “You come against me with a sword, but I come against you in the name of the Lord.” David knocked the giant down with one single little stone. His courage did not come from human weapons; it came from knowing that God’s powerful presence was standing right beside him on the battlefield.

When you carry the presence of God inside your heart, you can look at the giants of sickness, poverty, or family division and laugh without any fear of the future. You understand that the giant might be big, but your God is infinitely bigger. Fear paralyses your potential, but the presence of God activates your supernatural faith. Stop listening to the negative whispers of the enemy in the middle of the night. Wake up and declare out loud that the Lord is your light and your salvation, so you will never be afraid of anything. God has promised that He will never leave you and He will never forsake you. This means that when you walk into an difficult job interview, an intense courtroom, or a scary doctor’s office, you are walking in with the host of heaven. You are highly favored, deeply loved, and completely protected. Let the courage of the Holy Spirit rise up inside your spirit today, drop your anxieties, and face your future with a bold, victorious shout.

8 Key Lessons from 1 Kings 8 on God’s Presence

To help us understand how to host God’s presence, let us look at 8 powerful points from 1 Kings chapter 8, when King Solomon dedicated the temple and the glory of God came down:

  • 1. Unity Brings the Presence (1 Kings 8:1): Solomon gathered all the leaders and the whole assembly together. When God’s people come together as one family, dropping their differences, God’s presence comes down with power.
  • 2. Honoring the Covenant (1 Kings 8:6): The priests brought the Ark of the Covenant into the Most Holy Place. We must keep God’s promises and His Word at the very center of our lives if we want His presence to remain.
  • 3. Sacrifice Opens the Door (1 Kings 8:5): They sacrificed so many sheep and cattle that they could not be counted. To walk in God’s power, we must be real and offer our time, our energy, and our hearts as a living sacrifice.
  • 4. God Fills the Empty Space (1 Kings 8:10-11): When the priests stepped out of the Holy Place, a thick cloud filled the temple. When we empty ourselves of pride and worldly things, God’s glorious presence fills up our hearts.
  • 5. God’s Presence Silences Human Effort (1 Kings 8:11): The priests could not stand to perform their service because of the cloud. When the Holy Spirit moves in His absolute majesty, our human strength stops and His supernatural power takes over.
  • 6. God Keeps His Promises (1 Kings 8:20): Solomon praised God for fulfilling His word to David. God’s presence is a guarantee that every single promise He made over your life, your family, and your future will come to pass.
  • 7. Heaven Hears Your Honest Prayer (1 Kings 8:29-30): Solomon prayed that God’s eyes would be open toward the temple day and night. When you are real and you pray from a sincere place, God hears from heaven, forgives, and heals.
  • 8. Complete Surrender of the Heart (1 Kings 8:61): Solomon challenged the people, saying, “Your hearts must be fully committed to the Lord.” Staying in God’s presence requires us to keep our hearts totally true and pure before Him.

Encouraging Session

I want to encourage every single person sitting in this room today that your life can also experience this same beautiful change. You might look at your current situation and feel completely stuck, or you might think that you have made too many bad mistakes for God to ever use you. But the story of Saul proves that no human heart is too hard for the love of Jesus to melt. If God could transform the biggest enemy of the early church into His greatest missionary, He can easily take your broken pieces and make something beautiful out of them. Do not let the enemy tell you that you are a hopeless case because your current story is not finished yet.

The very same resurrection power that knocked Saul to the ground and opened his blind eyes is active and available for you right now. God does not look at your past failures; He looks at your future potential when you completely surrender to Him. This week can be the start of a whole new chapter where you walk in victory instead of defeat. Trust that the Lord is ready to pour out His mercy, heal your deep wounds, and give you a fresh purpose. Be encouraged because your life is about to change for the better.

This Week Reflection

Take some quiet time this week to look deeply into your own heart and reflect on your walk with God. Ask yourself if you are truly being real with Him, or if you are just playing a religious game to look good in front of others. Think about the areas in your life where you are still trying to fight in your own limited strength instead of surrendering to God’s ultimate power. Saul thought he was doing great, but he was completely blind to his own spiritual condition until Jesus stopped him. Do not wait for a painful crisis to force you to examine your life.

Look at your daily habits, your thoughts, and how you treat the people around you. Are you allowing the Holy Spirit to guide your steps, or are you still holding onto the steering wheel of your life? Write down the things that you know you have been hiding from God. Remember that He already knows everything about you, and He is simply waiting for you to be honest with Him. Real growth always begins with absolute honesty. When you admit your weakness, you open up the floor for God’s power to come in and lift you up. Use this week to lay down your heavy burdens, stop pretending to be strong, and let the peace of God wash over your mind. He loves you too much to leave you the way you are today.

Deliverance Session

Right now, we are entering into a sacred time of deliverance because God wants to break every heavy chain in this room. Many of us are carrying heavy spiritual chains that keep us from walking in the true power of God. You might be bound by deep fear, hidden shame, old unforgiveness, or habits that you just cannot seem to break on your own. Saul was bound by religious pride and hatred, but the presence of Jesus broke those invisible chains instantly. Today, that same saving power of Jesus Christ is right here in this place to set you completely free. You do not have to carry that old garbage anymore. Deliverance begins the moment you decide to be completely real about your secret struggles and call out to Jesus for help.

Lift up your hands right now and speak directly to those areas of darkness in your life. In the mighty name of Jesus, we command every spirit of fear, every addiction, and every generational curse to leave your life right now. God did not give you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. Receive your total freedom today. Let the fire of the Holy Spirit burn away every weight that has been holding you back from your destiny. Walk out of your old spiritual prison and step boldly into the bright light of God’s amazing grace. You are fully delivered, and you are free indeed.

Altar Call

The altar is open right now, and this is your special moment to step forward and meet with God. If you have never given your life to Jesus, or if you know you have wandered far away from Him, Jesus is calling your name today. Do not look at the person sitting next to you; this moment is strictly between you and your Savior. Saul had to fall to the ground and surrender his whole life, and today God is asking you to surrender your heart to Him.

Coming to the altar is a beautiful way of saying, “Lord, I am being real today. I need your help, and I cannot do this life alone anymore.” There is absolutely no judgment here, only open arms and deep love from a Father who cares for you. If you want to experience the real power of God and start a brand-new journey today, step out of your seat right now and come to the front. Bring your hurts, your sins, and your broken pieces to the feet of Jesus. He is ready to wash you clean, forgive your past, and give you a beautiful new identity as a child of the Living God. Today is the day of salvation for your soul. Do not walk out of this building the same way you came in. Step out in faith, walk down this aisle, and let the real transformation of your life begin right now.

 Challenging Session

As we prepare to leave this place today, I want to challenge your heart to live out this message in the coming week. Do not leave the word of God behind at the church doors. Saul went out and immediately began to change his world, and God is challenging you to do the exact same thing. It time to step out of your comfortable routine and start walking boldly in the power of the Holy Spirit. I challenge you to speak to that family member who does not know Jesus. I challenge you to pray for that sick friend with real faith, believing that God will heal them.

Being real means that we do not just talk about God’s power on Sunday; we actually demonstrate His love on Monday, Tuesday, and every single day of the week. The world is full of hurting people who are tired of empty religion. They are desperately looking for something real, and you carry the light of Jesus inside of you. Stop letting fear and insecurity tell you that you are not good enough or ready enough. God does not call the qualified; He qualifies the ones He calls. Step up, speak up, and be a bold witness for Christ in your workplace, your school, and your neighborhood. Let your life be a bright light that points others to the cross. Go out and change your world in the mighty name of Jesus.

Final Closing Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you so much for your powerful word today. We thank you for the story of Saul and for showing us that your grace can reach anyone, no matter how lost they are. Lord, we come to you today just as we are. We lay down all of our pride, all of our masks, and all of our empty religious habits. We want to be completely real with you from this moment forward. Forgive us for the times we tried to live in our own human strength instead of relying on your supernatural power. Holy Spirit, we ask you to fill us afresh right now. Give us the same boldness that you gave to Paul so that we can share your love with everyone we meet. We pray for every person who made a decision at the altar today. Protect their hearts, strengthen their faith, and guide their steps in this new direction. Break every remaining chain of fear, sin, and doubt in our lives. We choose to walk out of this place today in your divine power, ready to be a great blessing to our families and our communities. Let your peace guard our minds throughout this coming week. We love you, Lord, and we give you all the praise, all the honor, and all the glory for the wonderful things you are doing in our lives. We pray all these things in the mighty and matchless name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen. God bless abundantly. Have a blessed week ahead.
