Introduction
Good morning, my precious brothers and sisters, and welcome to this glorious Third Sunday of October, October 18, 2026! Look around this room today—there is a brand-new glow on your faces and a fresh fire in this sanctuary. Why? Because for the last three days, we have walked through a mighty season of fasting and prayer in this Month of God’s Open Heaven. Let us remember how far the Lord has brought us this week. On Day 1 of our fast, we learned about Faith That Grows Under Pressure, seeing how hard times push our roots deeper into Christ. On Day 2, God strengthened us to Stand Firm and Do Not Be Shaken, refusing to bow to the storms of life. And yesterday, on Day 3, we stood at the foot of Jacob’s Ladder: Connecting Earth to Heaven’s Throne, where we saw the sky open right over our hard places.
For three days, you called out to heaven with hungry stomachs and thirsty hearts. So what happens on the Sunday morning after you call out to God? Today, we open the Bible to Jeremiah 33:3–11 to hear heaven’s direct reply to your fast! When God spoke these words to the prophet Jeremiah, Jeremiah was locked up in a dark prison courtyard, and the city of Jerusalem was broken and hurting. Yet right in that prison, God said in verse 3: “Call to me, and I will answer you, and will show you great and difficult things, which you don’t know.” My dear friend, you have called, and today, God is answering! And when God opens heaven to answer your prayers, He does not just send a tiny drop of blessing; He pours out a river of restoration. Today, we are going to see the exact gifts that are coming down Jacob’s ladder into your life right now: health and healing, peace and security, complete forgiveness of sins, freedom from captivity, and overflowing joy and gladness. Sit back, open your heart wide, and get ready to receive your harvest today!
Part 1: The Open Heaven Answer of Health, Healing, Peace, and Security
When you call to God during a time of fasting and prayer, what is the very first thing He promises to send down from an open heaven? Let us look at Jeremiah 33, verse 6. God says, “Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them; and I will reveal to them abundance of peace and truth.” Think about how tender and loving our Heavenly Father is. He looks down from His throne and sees how tired your body is, how bruised your heart is, and how worried your mind has been. So many of you came into this weekend carrying hidden pains. Maybe you have a sickness in your body that doctors cannot easily fix—high blood pressure, diabetes, constant pain in your bones, or a frightening report from the hospital. Or maybe your wound is on the inside, where nobody can see it. You have a broken heart from someone who betrayed you, or deep grief from losing a loved one, and that wound has never closed up. God says today: I want to bring you health and healing! In the original language of the Bible, this means God Himself is coming like a loving Physician to put a healing bandage over your open wound and mend your brokenness from the inside out. Nothing is too broken for God to fix.
Not only does He bring healing to your body and soul, but look at the second half of verse 6: He wants you to enjoy peace and security—an abundance of peace and truth! Why does God join healing with peace and security? Because you cannot truly enjoy good health if your mind is always shaking with fear about tomorrow! Many people today are lying awake at 2:00 AM worrying: “How will I pay next month’s rent? Will I lose my job? Will my children be safe in this crazy world?” That constant worry steals the strength right out of your bones. Today, on this Sunday after our fast, the God of the Open Heaven is wrapping a warm blanket of heavenly security around your life. He is telling you that your future is safe in His hands. You do not need to be afraid of bad news anymore. Whether it is physical sickness in your flesh or nervous fear in your mind, heaven’s pharmacy is wide open this morning. Breathe in His peace right now, because the Great Physician is touching your body and calming your storm!
Part 2: Complete Cleansing and Freedom from Every Captivity
As we look deeper into God’s open-heaven promises in Jeremiah 33, we see two more wonderful treasures in verses 7 and 8: God wants you to enjoy freedom from captivity, and He wants to cleanse you from all the sins you have committed and forgive you completely. Let us talk about freedom from captivity first. In verse 7, God promises to turn back the captivity of His people and build them up just as they were at the beginning. What is captivity? Captivity is when something stronger than you holds you locked in a cage where you cannot move forward. For the people of Israel, it was foreign soldiers who took them away as prisoners. For us today, captivity can look like a bad habit or an addiction you have tried to quit a hundred times, yet it keeps pulling you back. It can look like a mountain of debt that keeps you working day and night with nothing left over. It can look like a heavy spirit of depression or a family curse where every generation goes through the same heartbreak. You feel trapped, stuck in the same spot year after year. But listen to the Word of the Lord today: your fasting has reached the throne, and the King of Heaven has signed your release papers! He is unlocking the prison doors and bringing you back into freedom, rebuilding everything the enemy tore down in your life.
And what is the greatest chain that the enemy uses to keep God’s children locked in captivity? It is the chain of guilt and past sin! Whenever you pray for a blessing, the devil comes and whispers in your ear: “Remember what you did five years ago? Remember how you failed God last month? You don’t deserve an open heaven; you deserve punishment!” That guilt makes you hide from God in shame. That is why verse 8 is one of the sweetest verses in the whole Bible. God says, “I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, by which they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities!” Notice the word all. Not just the small mistakes, not just half of your sins—He washes away all the sins you have committed and forgives you completely! Through the precious blood of Jesus Christ on the cross, your dirty record has been wiped completely clean, as white as snow. When God looks at you from His open heaven today, He does not see your old mistakes; He sees His beloved, forgiven child. You are free from the cage of the enemy, and you are free from the shame of yesterday!
Part 3: The Return of Joy, Gladness, and the Song of Thanksgiving
When God heals your body, gives you peace and security, sets you free from captivity, and washes away all your sins, what happens inside your house next? Look at Jeremiah 33, verses 10 and 11! For a long time, the streets of Jerusalem were quiet, empty, and full of crying. People thought nobody would ever laugh or celebrate there again. Maybe that is how your home has felt lately. Maybe stress, sickness, and financial pressure have stolen the laughter right out of your living room. Your house has been quiet and heavy, or full of arguing and tears. You cannot even remember the last time you woke up feeling truly happy. Listen to what God promises in verse 11: He says that in the very place that was dry and broken, there will be heard again “the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride!” God wants to bring you joy and gladness! In the Bible, the voice of the bridegroom and the bride is the sound of a wedding party—the happiest, loudest, most joyful celebration on earth! God is saying to you today: I am bringing the party of heaven back into your home! The days of weeping all night long are coming to an end. The days of walking around with a heavy, sad face are over. God is putting a fresh smile on your face and laughter back around your kitchen table.
And look at what the people are singing in the middle of that joy in verse 11. They are bringing sacrifices of praise into the house of the Lord and singing: “Give thanks to Lord of Armies, for Lord is good, for his loving kindness endures forever!” All of God’s healing, freedom, and joy will lead your heart straight into overflowing thanksgiving! Notice what they sing—they do not sing about how hard the prison was, or how painful the fast was; they simply sing, The Lord is good, and His love endures forever! My brother, my sister, when you realize how much God loves you and how completely He has answered your three days of fasting, complaining dies on your tongue, and thanksgiving takes over your life. Today, you don’t have to wait until all your bills are paid tomorrow to start thanking Him. Because heaven has spoken, you can lift your voice right now with joy and gladness and thank the Lord Almighty in advance, knowing His goodness and His unfailing love will carry you all the days of your life!
Part 4: A Testimony That Brings Renown, Praise, and Honor to God
Now let us ask a very important question as we look at Jeremiah 33, verse 9: Why does God do all of this for us? Why does He open the sky, connect Jacob’s ladder to our lives, heal our sicknesses, forgive our sins, break our chains, and fill our homes with joy? Verse 9 gives us the beautiful secret. Speaking of His restored people, God says: “This city will be to me for a name of joy, for praise, and for glory, before all the nations of the earth, which will hear of all the good that I do to them, and will fear and tremble for all the good and for all the peace that I provide to it.” Put your hand on your heart and listen closely to this: God is blessing you so that your life will become a walking signboard of His goodness to everyone around you! All of this healing, freedom, and joy in your life will result in renown, joy, praise, and honor for God.
Think about the people who know you—your neighbors, your coworkers, your relatives who do not yet know Jesus. Many of them have seen you go through the fire. They know you were sick, they know you were struggling financially, or they know your family was going through a very dark time. Some of them might have even shaken their heads and said, “Let’s see if their church and their fasting can help them now.” Get ready, because when God pours out the blessings of Jeremiah 33 over your life this month, those same people are going to look at you with wide eyes of amazement! When they see you healthy and strong, when they see unshakable peace on your face, when they see your family laughing and blessed, and when they see doors opening for you that no human hand could open, they won’t be able to deny it. They will say, “Truly, the God they serve is real, and He is a good God!” You are not just receiving a blessing today so you can live a comfortable life by yourself; you are being turned into a living testimony for the glory of Jesus Christ. Every miracle you receive from this three-day fast is going to make Jesus famous in your neighborhood and in your family. God is going to do so much good and pour so much peace into your life that everyone who hears your story will stand in awe of the Lord Almighty!
Challenging Session
Beloved family, we have heard such sweet, comforting promises from Jeremiah 33 today, yet I must pause and challenge your heart before we pray. Look back at the very first word of our main verse in Jeremiah 33:3—”Call to me, and I will answer you.” Notice that God’s answer comes to those who truly call on Him and trust Him. Yes, we just finished three powerful days of fasting and prayer on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. You called on God during the fast. However, here is my challenge to you on this Sunday morning: what happens when a Christian finishes a three-day fast, hears a wonderful promise on Sunday, and then on Monday morning, when the blessing hasn’t shown up in their bank account by 9:00 AM, they go right back to doubting, worrying, and seeking worldly solutions?
And even more deeply, look at verse 8 and verse 11. God says He wants to cleanse you from all your sins and fill your mouth with thanksgiving: “Give thanks to the Lord Almighty, for the Lord is good.” How can God fill your mouth with joyful thanksgiving if your mouth is still full of gossip, anger, complaining, and bitterness against your neighbor? How can you enjoy the freedom from captivity that Jesus bought for you if you deliberately walk back into the same secret sins and toxic habits tonight? God is ready to make your life a testimony of renown, praise, and honor before the world, as verse 9 says. Yet if the world looks at you this week and sees you acting just as fearful, just as angry, and just as unforgiving as people who don’t know God, how will God get the glory? Today, I challenge you: leave the prison mindset behind! Stop talking like a captive when the King has set you free. Forgive those who hurt you, keep your hands clean after this fast, and let nothing but faith and thanksgiving come out of your mouth this week!
Altar Call Session
Please bow your heads and close your eyes across this sanctuary. Let the gentle presence of the Holy Spirit speak to you right now. In Jeremiah 33:8, we read one of the most touching promises in all of Scripture: He wants to cleanse you from all the sins you have committed and forgive you completely. And in verse 7, He wants you to enjoy freedom from captivity. My dear friend, maybe you are sitting in this Sunday service today, and while everyone else is celebrating the end of our three-day fast, your heart feels heavy and locked in a dark prison. Maybe you didn’t even fast this week, or maybe someone just invited you to church this morning, and as you sit here, you feel so far away from God. You look at your life and see mistakes, broken promises, and sins that nobody else in this building knows about. You feel like Jeremiah locked in that dark courtyard, wondering if life will ever be good again.
Listen to the voice of Jesus calling your name right now: “Call to me, and I will answer you.” You don’t have to clean yourself up first before you come to Jesus; He is the One who washes you clean! He shed His royal blood on the cross so that every single sin of your past could be forgiven completely—wiped away forever! Whether you have never given your life to Jesus Christ before, or whether you wandered away from church into the captivity of the world and you want to come home today, this moment is for you. Do not let pride or fear keep you in your seat. If you want complete forgiveness, a brand-new start, and freedom in Jesus’ name, step out of your row right now and walk down to this altar. Come just as you are—the Father’s arms are wide open to receive you today!
Deliverance Session
To everyone standing here at the altar and everyone standing at your seats, stretch your hands toward heaven right now! Yesterday, on Day 3 of our fast, we saw Jacob’s ladder open the sky; today, on this Third Sunday of October, the power of Jeremiah 33:6–7 is coming down to bring healing and freedom from every captivity! The prison doors are shaking, and every chain of the enemy must break right now in the name of Jesus Christ! Open your mouth and receive your freedom as I command every dark power to let you go:
In the mighty name of Jesus, I speak to every captivity holding God’s people back! Every cage of addiction, every generational chain of poverty, every spirit of delay that has kept your family stuck in the same place for years—break into pieces right now by the blood of Jesus!
God said in Jeremiah 33:7 that He is turning back your captivity; therefore, you are coming out of that prison today! Now, I speak to every sickness and disease in this room according to Jeremiah 33:6: He brings you health and healing! Every tumor, every infection, every heart problem, every painful joint, every sleepless night, and every spirit of infirmity—hear the Word of the Lord: loose these bodies and go right now in Jesus’ name!
Receive divine health in your blood! Receive healing in your bones! Every heavy cloud of trauma, grief, and fear that stole the joy from your house—be blown away by the wind of the Holy Spirit!
Breathe in deeply! The chains are gone, the healing balm of Gilead is flowing over you from the top of your head to the soles of your feet, and whom the Son sets free is free indeed in Jesus’ mighty name!
Conclusion
What a mighty, life-changing week we have experienced in the presence of the Lord! Let us look at the complete picture of what God has done for us in this Month of God’s Open Heaven. On Day 1 of our fast, God planted in us Faith That Grows Under Pressure. On Day 2, He gave us the backbone to Stand Firm and Do Not Be Shaken. On Day 3, yesterday, after three days of fasting, He opened our eyes to see Jacob’s Ladder: Connecting Earth to Heaven’s Throne. And today, on this glorious Sunday, October 18, 2026, we have heard heaven’s sweet answer to our prayers from Jeremiah 33:3–11! Never forget what God has promised you today. You called unto Him, and He is showing you great and unsearchable things that you did not even know were possible.
As you walk out of these church doors today to start your new week, remember the gifts you are carrying home in your hands: He is bringing you health and healing for every wound; He is surrounding you with peace and security; He has washed away all your sins and forgiven you completely; He has brought you out into total freedom from captivity; and He is filling your home once again with the voice of joy and gladness! Because of what God is doing in your life this month, your life is going to bring renown, joy, praise, and honor to His holy name before everyone who knows you. So how should you walk into Monday morning? Walk in with your head held high, a bright smile on your face, and the song of Jeremiah 33:11 ringing in your heart all week long: “Give thanks to the Lord Almighty, for the Lord is good; His love endures forever!”
Closing Prayer
O Lord God Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, we lift our hands and our voices to thank You today, for You are good, and Your loving kindness endures forever! Father, thank You for bringing us safely through our three days of October fasting and prayer and crowning our weekend with this joyful Sunday service. You promised in Jeremiah 33:3 that when we call to You, You will answer us and show us great and unsearchable things. Today, Lord, we receive Your open-heaven answer with grateful hearts! Pour out Your health and healing upon every sick body and every broken heart in this room. Wrap every family here in Your abundant peace and unshakable security. Thank You for washing away all our sins by the blood of Jesus and breaking every chain of captivity off our lives. Lord, let the voice of joy, gladness, and thanksgiving ring loud inside every home represented here this week. Make our lives a shining testimony that brings renown, praise, and honor to Your glorious name across this city. Bless our week, protect our going out and our coming in, and keep heaven wide open over us, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen and Amen!
