Introduction
Good morning, my beloved church family, and welcome to this blessed final Sunday of October, October 25, 2026! What an unforgettable journey we have walked together throughout this Month of God’s Open Heaven. Let us pause and remember every step God has taken us through over the past weeks. During our three days of fasting and prayer, on Day 1, God taught us how to have Faith That Grows Under Pressure. On Day 2, He gave us the strength to Stand Firm and Do Not Be Shaken. On Day 3 of our fast, He opened our spiritual eyes to see Jacob’s Ladder: Connecting Earth to Heaven’s Throne, right where we were hurting. Then last Sunday, October 18, we celebrated heaven’s direct answer to our call from Jeremiah 33:3–11, receiving God’s promises of health and healing, peace and security, complete forgiveness of sins, freedom from captivity, and the return of joy and thanksgiving to our homes!
Now, here we are on the final Sunday of the month. Many Christians know how to pray hard during a three-day fast until heaven opens, and they know how to shout with joy on the Sunday when the blessing falls. Yet two weeks later, they wonder why their prayer life feels dry again and why the sky seems closed! God never meant for an open heaven to be a one-time holiday that you only visit in October. He wants you to live under an open sky 365 days a year! That is why today’s message is so important for your life: Walking in the Overflow: How to Keep Your Heaven Open Every Day! In Deuteronomy 28:12, God promises to open His good treasure in the sky, to send rain in its season, and to bless all the work of your hands so much that you live in an overflow. Today, we will learn the four simple, heart-touching keys to keeping that heavenly window wide open over your family every single day of the year, and how your overflow can encourage and lift up everyone around you.
Part 1: Keeping Your Personal Altar Burning with Daily Thanksgiving
How do we keep the sky open over our heads after the church service ends and the October fast is behind us? The first secret is to keep your personal altar burning every single day with a heart of thanksgiving, prayer, and encouragement toward others. Remember back in Genesis 28, when Jacob woke up from his dream of the stairway reaching heaven, the first thing he did was take that stone and build an altar of worship unto the Lord. And remember what we learned last Sunday in Jeremiah 33:11—when God restores His people, the sound heard in their houses is: “Give thanks to the Lord Almighty, for the Lord is good; His love endures forever!” Think about why heaven sometimes feels closed in a believer’s life. During a fast, or when we have a big emergency, we cry out to God morning, noon, and night. We are humble, hungry, and grateful for every tiny touch from the Lord. However, as soon as God heals the sickness, pays the bill, or brings peace back to the house, we get busy again. We wake up in the morning, grab our phones, rush off to work without praying, eat our food without thanking Him, and go to sleep at night without whispering a word of love to our Heavenly Father. Slowly, brick by brick, our coldness builds a roof right back over our heads!
My dear brother, my dear sister, God is not an emergency fire truck that you only call when your house is burning down; He is your loving Father who wants to walk with you every morning! Keeping your heaven open does not require complicated, fancy words. It simply means waking up every morning and saying, “Good morning, Father. Thank You for my life today. Thank You that Your love never fails.” When you wash the dishes, thank Him. When you walk down the street, talk to Him like a dear friend. And let that thankfulness spill out to encourage others! When your heart is full of gratitude to God, you stop speaking harsh, discouraging words to your spouse, your children, and your friends. Instead, your mouth becomes a fountain of kindness that lifts up tired souls around you. Gratitude is the key that locks the window of heaven in the “open” position. When the angels of God look down at your house on a regular Tuesday morning and hear praise, thanksgiving, and encouraging words still rising from your lips just like they did during the fast, the stairway of heaven stays planted right in your living room. Never let your altar grow cold; keep the fire of thankfulness burning every single day!
Part 2: Walking in Loving Obedience to the Voice from the Throne
The second powerful key to living in a daily overflow is walking in simple, loving obedience to God’s Word, which shines as a light to encourage everyone watching your life. Let us look at the verses that come right before our main Scripture today, in Deuteronomy 28, verses 1 and 2. Moses tells the people that if they will diligently listen to the voice of the Lord their God, to observe and do His commandments, then all these blessings will come upon them and overtake them! Picture what that word “overtake” means. Instead of you running around all year sweating, crying, and chasing after blessings that keep running away from you, when you walk in obedience to God, the blessings of heaven actually chase you down the street and wrap their arms around you with goodness! Why does obedience keep heaven open? Because God’s commandments are not heavy rules meant to make your life miserable; they are protective boundaries that keep you standing right underneath the waterfall of His grace! Imagine a waterfall of fresh, clean water pouring down from a high cliff. As long as you stand directly under the waterfall, your bucket stays full and overflowing. If you step twenty feet away into the dry bushes of sin, dishonesty, or pride, the waterfall didn’t stop flowing—you just stepped out from under it!
When God sees a son or a daughter who loves Him enough to obey Him in the small things of everyday life, His heart is deeply touched. When you choose to tell the truth even when a lie would be easier; when you choose to forgive your brother or sister quickly instead of holding bitterness for a week; when you choose to comfort and encourage someone who made a mistake instead of judging them—you are staying right underneath the spout where the glory comes out! And think about how much your obedience encourages others. When your children, your coworkers, and your struggling friends see you choosing God’s way of love, peace, and honesty even when life is tough, it gives them courage to trust God too. You don’t have to be afraid of the future when you walk in obedience. Even if the world around you is shaking, Deuteronomy 28:12 promises that God will open His good treasure in the sky to give rain to your land in its season and bless all the work of your hands. Your loving obedience today guarantees your overflow tomorrow!
Part 3: Honoring God with Your Hands and Your Harvest
Now let us look at the third secret to walking in the overflow, which we find in both Deuteronomy 28:12 and Malachi 3:10: honoring God with the work of your hands and keeping an open, generous heart toward His house and His people. When God opens the windows of heaven, He wants to bless the work of your hands, and He watches how we trust Him with what He puts into our hands. In Malachi 3:10, God speaks some of the most famous words about an open heaven in the entire Bible. He says: “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house, and test me now in this,” says Yahweh of Armies, “if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there will not be enough room to receive it.” Sometimes people hear that verse and think God is asking for their treasure because heaven is poor. No, my friend! Heaven’s streets are paved with pure gold; God does not need our money. What God wants is your heart, your trust, and your willingness to partner with Him to bless a hurting world!
Remember, in Deuteronomy 28:12, God says He opens the sky to “bless all the work of your hand; and you shall lend to many nations, and you shall not borrow.” Notice two wonderful truths here. First, God blesses the work of your hands. An open heaven is not an excuse to sit back and do nothing; when heaven opens and sends the rain, a wise farmer goes out into the field, works cheerfully, encourages the workers beside him, and plants good seed! Whatever work you do—whether you clean buildings, run a business, teach children, or cook for your family—do it with love, excellence, and honesty, because God’s open heaven is pouring favor onto your daily labor. Second, when the harvest comes into your hands, never let fear or greed close your fist! When we close our fists tightly and say, “This is all mine; I cannot honor God’s house, and I cannot help my struggling brother,” a closed fist cannot catch any more rain from heaven! When you open your hands wide to honor the Lord first and to lift up others in need, your hands stay open to catch the next wave of heaven’s supply. That is how God takes you from barely surviving to a place of overflow—where there is not even enough room to store all the goodness He pours into your life!
Part 4: Becoming a Channel of Blessing and Encouragement to a Hurting World
Why does God want to pour out a blessing so big that you don’t even have room to contain it, and why does Deuteronomy 28:12 say that under an open heaven you will lend to many and not borrow? That brings us to our fourth and most heart-touching truth today: God gives you an overflow so that His love, peace, and provision spill out of your cup to encourage and rescue the hurting people around you! Think about the difference between a pond that has no outlet and a flowing river. In the land of Israel, there is a body of water called the Dead Sea. Fresh water flows into the Dead Sea from the Jordan River every day, yet nothing can live in the Dead Sea—no fish, no green plants, nothing at all! Why is it dead? Because it takes water in, and it never lets a single drop flow out to help anyone else! On the other hand, the Sea of Galilee receives that exact same river water and lets it flow right back out to water the dry valleys below, and it is teeming with life, fish, and green trees. Many Christians wonder why their spiritual joy dries up a few weeks after a fasting prayer: it is because they only want to be a storage tank for themselves instead of a river of encouragement for others!
Look around you this week when you leave this church. The world out there is full of people who are sleeping on cold, hard stones just like Jacob did before he saw the ladder. Your coworker is smiling on the outside while crying on the inside over a broken home. Your neighbor is wondering how to buy groceries for their children. Someone sitting two rows away from you in church today is fighting a quiet battle with loneliness and needs the healing and freedom we learned about in Jeremiah 33 last week. Make up your mind today to be an encourager! When God heals your heart, use your story to comfort someone else who is crying. When God blesses your table with bread, share a meal with a widow, an orphan, or a struggling family. When God fills your heart with hope, send a kind message, pray with a tired friend, and speak life into someone who feels like giving up. When heaven sees that every blessing poured into your life flows straight through you to lift up the brokenhearted and bring glory to Jesus, God will never shut the sky over your head. Keep flowing with love, kindness, and compassion toward others, and the river of God’s open heaven will never run dry in your house!
Challenging Session
My dear brothers and sisters, today is October 25, the final Sunday of our Month of God’s Open Heaven. Next week, the calendar will turn to November. Let me challenge you from the depths of my heart right now: will your devotion to God and your love for others turn off just because the calendar page turns? Be completely honest with yourself today. During this month of October, especially during our three days of fasting, many of you prayed like warriors, worshipped with tears, and made big promises to God. You stood at Jacob’s ladder and said, “Lord, if You answer me and bring me out of this trouble, I will serve You and bless Your people with all my heart!” Last week, you rejoiced when God promised you healing, freedom, and joy from Jeremiah 33.
Now, here is the real test: how will you live when nobody is calling a church-wide fast? It is easy to act spiritual for three days in October; it takes real commitment to walk with God and encourage others on an ordinary Wednesday in November! Some of you are already tempted to slip back into spiritual laziness—hitting the snooze button on prayer, letting sharp, critical words creep back into your family conversations, holding back from honoring God, or becoming selfish with the very blessings God just gave you. Listen to me carefully: God never closes heaven from His side, yet we can put up an umbrella of pride, laziness, and selfishness from our side that blocks His rain from hitting our lives! Are you willing to trade a temporary October blessing for a permanent lifestyle of overflow? Today, I challenge you: throw away the spiritual umbrella! Make a firm decision right now that your prayer life will not stop, your thanksgiving will not go quiet, and your hands will never stop lifting up the hurting people around you. Decide today that your home will stay a permanent Bethel—a house of God’s love—every single day of the year!
Altar Call Session
Please bow your heads and close your eyes across this whole room. Nobody looking around, just you and the King of Heaven right now. We have talked all month long about an Open Heaven, about a stairway connecting earth to God’s throne, and about walking in the daily overflow of His love. Yet maybe you are sitting in that chair on this last Sunday of October, and deep inside your soul, you know that heaven still feels like cold brass over your head because you have never truly surrendered your heart to Jesus Christ. You see others rejoicing, singing, and testifying, and a quiet voice inside you whispers, “I wish I had that peace. I wish I knew my sins were forgiven.” Or maybe you once walked under an open heaven years ago, yet the cares of this world, secret sins, or deep disappointments caused you to walk away from the waterfall of God’s grace. Your heart feels dry, empty, and tired of trying to survive on your own strength.
Hear the tender voice of your Savior calling you right now. Before Jesus asks you for obedience or thanksgiving, He offers you Himself. On the cross of Calvary, the sky turned dark over Jesus so that the sky could stay bright and open over you forever! He took your sin, your shame, and your curse so that all the blessings of Deuteronomy 28 could overtake your life. He is not angry with you; He is waiting with open, nail-scarred hands to wash you clean and welcome you into His family today. If you want to give your life to Jesus Christ today, or if you want to come back home to the Father and start fresh before this month of October ends, do not wait another second. Step out of your seat right now and come down to this front altar. Come and stand under the waterfall of His grace today!
Altar Call Session Prayer
Look at these precious souls standing at the altar today—heaven is rejoicing over every single one of you! Church family, stretch your hands lovingly toward those at the front to encourage them as we pray together. If you came forward today, or if you are praying right from your seat, place your hand over your heart and repeat this prayer out loud after me from the bottom of your heart:
“Dear Heavenly Father, I come to You today just as I am. I thank You that You love me and that You have not forgotten me. Lord Jesus, I believe with all my heart that You are the Son of God, that You died on the cross for my sins, and that You rose again on the third day to open heaven for me. Today, I ask You to forgive me of every sin I have ever committed. Wash my heart clean with Your precious blood. I turn away from my old life of sin, fear, and shame, and I open the door of my heart to You. Come into my life, Lord Jesus, and be my Savior, my Lord, and my closest Friend. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, give me the power to walk in loving obedience every day, and use my life to encourage and bless others. From this day forward, I belong to You, and I walk under Your open heaven. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray, Amen!”
Father, I thank You for every brother and sister who just prayed that prayer! Right now, wrap Your loving arms around them. Let the warm oil of the Holy Spirit wash away every memory of guilt and heaviness. Write their names permanently in the Lamb’s Book of Life, plant them deeply in this church family, and let them walk out of this altar today completely forgiven, deeply loved, and overflowing with brand-new joy, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
Deliverance Session
To everyone standing at this altar and everyone standing on your feet across this sanctuary, lift both hands high toward the ceiling! Before we close out this Month of God’s Open Heaven, we are going to break every spiritual “blessing-blocker” and every “leaking hole” that the enemy tries to put in your basket! In Deuteronomy 28:12, God says He will bless all the work of your hands so that you lend and do not borrow. That means every curse of working hard with nothing to show for it must die today! Pray with fire in your spirit and receive your deliverance as I command every work of darkness to shatter: In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I take authority over every spirit of the “devourer” that tries to eat up the harvest of God’s people! Every leaking pocket, every sudden emergency that comes to swallow your savings right after God blesses you, every spirit of debt and borrowing—we rebuke you and break your power right now by the blood of Jesus! Every curse of barrenness, stagnation, and failure on the work of your hands—be washed away by the rain of heaven in Jesus’ name!
I speak to every spirit of spiritual dryness, prayerlessness, selfishness, and backsliding that wants to pull you back into captivity after this month is over—loose your hold and leave these lives forever! Now, lift your hands higher! I prophetically decree over your hands right now: your hands are blessed! Whatever you touch shall prosper! Your mouth is anointed to encourage the brokenhearted, and your hands are anointed to lift up the poor! The good treasure of heaven is open over your family, your health, your job, and your children! Every wall blocking your overflow is shattered into dust, and you are stepping into a season of unstoppable abundance in Jesus’ mighty name!
Conclusion
Look around this sanctuary and give the Lord a mighty shout of praise for what He has done in October 2026! For four glorious weeks, we have lived, breathed, and walked in the Month of God’s Open Heaven. Let us carry every single lesson from this month deep in our hearts like precious gold. Never forget that your faith grows stronger under pressure. Never forget to stand firm on God’s Word and refuse to be shaken. Never forget that even when you are sleeping on a hard rock in a dark place, Jacob’s ladder—Jesus Christ Himself—connects your earthly need right to heaven’s throne. Never forget heaven’s sweet answer from Jeremiah 33: that God brings you health and healing, peace and security, complete cleansing from all sin, freedom from every cage, and the loud song of joy and gladness!
And today, on this final Sunday of October,2026 October 25, you have received the master key to Walking in the Overflow: How to Keep Your Heaven Open Every Day! When you wake up tomorrow morning on Monday, do not look up at the sky wondering if the open heaven ended with October. Because the Spirit of the living God lives inside of you, you carry the open heaven wherever your feet walk! Keep your personal altar warm with daily thanksgiving. Walk in sweet, humble obedience to the Father’s voice. Work diligently with your hands, keep your fists open in generosity, and let your cup overflow to encourage and bless every hurting soul you meet this week. As Deuteronomy 28:12 promises, the Lord has opened His good treasure in the sky over you—the rain is falling in its season, the work of your hands is blessed, and you are walking out of these doors today into a life of everlasting overflow!
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, the Lord of the Open Heaven and the Giver of every good and perfect gift, our hearts are overflowing with gratitude as we stand before You on this final Sunday of October! Thank You for walking with us through every single day of this month—through our fasting, our tears, our prayers, and our celebrations. Lord, we seal every word You have spoken to us in October deep inside our spirits so that the enemy can never steal it away. Today, according to Your promise in Deuteronomy 28:12 and Malachi 3:10, we ask You to keep the windows of heaven wide open over every man, woman, and child in this church every single day of the year.
Bless the work of their hands this week. Send the timely rain of Your favor upon their businesses, their jobs, their studies, and their families. Deliver them from the trap of borrowing and bring them into the overflow where they can encourage, comfort, and be a blessing to many! Help us to keep our altars burning with daily thanksgiving and to walk in joyful obedience to Your voice. May our lives shine with Your goodness until Jesus returns. In the matchless, victorious name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen and Amen!
God bless abundantly.
